Since 1945
Bharat Bhaishajya Shala began in 1945, when Vaidya Chandra Prakash started making his own medicines in Niloha village, near Meerut. Three generations of Rasa vaidyas later, the family still makes the medicines at our own facility in Uttarakhand, on the same campus where patients are treated.

The people
Vaidya Balendu Prakash led this practice for more than thirty years and taught the people who run it now. The work continues in the way he set it up, and the record below is his as much as anyone's.
Teacher to Vaidya Chandra Prakash
A sanyasi, and a master of Yoga and Rasa Shastra. Vaidya Chandra Prakash left his parental home as a young man to study under him, prepared his medicines under his guidance, and in 1956 moved to Meerut city to stay near him.

He earned two degrees, the Prabhakar at Prayag and the Bhishak at Sanatan Dharma College in Lahore, now in Pakistan. While in Muzaffarpur he treated Jayaprakash Narayan and was personal physician to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India. In 1978 he set up Bharat Bhaishajya Shala in its own premises in Meerut, which has made its own medicines ever since.
